Stormy squeezes her eyes closed, muttering near-silent words of prayer under her breath as she weighs out her options. Swimming was definitely not a good idea, but neither was staying put, bleeding into the water and hanging around as live bait.[break][break]

But it is Doug's literal push that gets her actually moving. Her hand presses against the Seismitoad's back and she clings to it. Her other arm reaches to crush Doug against her side, to keep him close and keep him safe. They kick off, Seismitoad their literal life-saving floatie.[break][break]

"We'll be okay."[break][break]

And they're slow-moving, pushing through the water. Doug's Pokemon work to defend them, and Stormy's Vaporeon acts as their second line of defense in the meantime. [break][break]

But their real saving grace comes in the form of a shadow overhead. In fact, there are several shadows. They dive, claws outstretched, plucking Stormy out of the water first. Vaporeon fills in her space, guarding the teenager, while Stormy is carried into the sky. It quite literally takes her breath away for a moment until she realizes just what is happening.[break][break]

The second Charizard that dips reaches for Doug next, and Stormy calls out for him.[break][break]

"Don't freak out! These guys are mine! We're home free!"[break][break]

She scrambles onto the back of her Charizard, its black scales rolling as the Pokemon's wings flap. Stormy maneuvers onto Wadjet's back, reaching for pokeballs to return both of her Pokemon still in the water the minute Sehkmet grabs ahold of Doug.[break][break]

"Dagnabit, what now?!" Said the youth, freaking out. With the stress of having death floating just under the surface around them, the last thing he needed was to also have to worry about death from above, so understandably, he got a little put off when looming shadows were suddenly cast over both of them.

His Dewpider squeals as she catches sight of the thing taking off with Doug, reeling her head back to spit a burst of water at the Charizard's face- before Stormy's voice cuts both Doug's panicking and Kumon's attack short.

"Whu?" Said Doug, blinking at the woman now that he saw her, sitting atop her Charizard's back. His gaze moved up to catch sight of the pokemon carrying him, before a relief finally hit him like an anvil.

"... Crud!" He said, grabbing his netball before pointing it at Kira as her face broke the surface, utterly bewildered by the fact her quarry had suddenly burst out of the water.

With his pokemon back in the safety of her pokeball, the youth finally released a sigh of relief, going limp in the Charizard's grasp as he and Stormy were escorted back to the ship.

Doug flopped to the floor like a sack of potatoes upon arriving to deck, rolling onto his back to stare at the sunny sky before throwing an arm over his face, taking loud, deep gasps for breath.

"Much... obliged..." He said between gasps at Stormy and her Charizard's, taking several more deep breaths before finally forcing himself to sit up, throwing an arm atop a knee.

"Oi! Get the lady a medic! Now!" He said, snapping at the nearest seaman, thankful his command was just followed.

Letting out another breath, the youth swiped his arm over his forehead as he felt salt water drip down to his face, clicking his tongue.

"Da'all got much uglier than expected." He said, biting the inside of his cheek in thought. If it hadn't been for these Charizards suddenly coming...

Well, their fate was up in the air.

He had already felt somewhat unqualified for the job, but now he was certain.

"... Well. Least we completed the mission." He said, grunting as he forced himself to stand, staring at the massive structure that had been their object of study. "Thing's gonna fall any day now at this rate. We gotta report it to HQ stat."

"Hey, woah, Sekhmet, easy! Humans are breakable, you know!"[break][break]

The Charizard, after having unceremoniously dropped Doug onto the deck, lands nearby and grumbles in apology. She dips her head and Stormy sighs, a lazy smile on her face, and slides off the back of her shiny Charizard. Both beasts shuffle off together and out of harms way.[break][break]

Her shoulder is stiff now that the adrenaline is leaking away, and the dull throb of her arm is now pestering her. She rolls it uncomfortably, and Doug shouts for a medic. They oblige him, rushing to her side. Of course, she shakes them off for the most part, irritated by their touching hands and closeness.[break][break]

"Yeah.. it did. But y'know, you can never trust a Sharpedo. They're all teeth, no brain, I swear."[break][break]

Someone's slapped a bandage on her arm and she huffs and puffs, stepping away from them with a finalized 'all right, lay off'. She glances back at Doug, then to the structure they'd just narrowly escaped from.[break][break]

"It's probably best they just tear it down and rebuild altogether. Or.. something. They really need to deal with those Sharpedo."[break][break]

Chances are, she'd be back to deal with them herself, among other ranger back-up. She sighs, shaking her head.[break][break]

"At least it's not aliens, though."[break][break]

"Tear it down, eh?" He said with a furrowed brow, not pulling his eyes away from the structure even as the rest of the crew brought ought towels and other necessities for the two.

Reaching out to grasp his hat as it was offered to him, a dark shade being cast over his eyes as he put in place.

"Wonder if we even can, at this point." He said, lip curling.

How did one even begin to take apart such a massive thing, this far out from the mainland? It could well come crashing down at any moment, and cause an ecological catastrophe at sea.

"Might've to find a way to repurpose the thing." He said, even as his frown deepened. Because that was an unlikely, far too optimistic outcome, likely to be plausible only in the mind of someone with as little engineering knowledge as he.

But that was enough of that.

Throwing his arms above his head, the youth grunted loudly as he stretched his entire body, before letting his arms fall limply to his sides.

"Regardless o' that... Thank you kindly for saving me skin back there, Ms. Stormy." He said, offering a smile. "Wouldn't have made it through the day without'cha. If ya ever need anythin', I'm at yer beck and call."

He turned towards the captain of the ship, rotating a finger in the air.

"Turn 'er 'round, Capt'n. We're goin' back! Thanks for your hard work, y'all!"

"Or bring the cavalry along with them when they aim to repair it. But I'm not sure repairing it is even an option.."[break][break]

She hums thoughtfully to herself, her brows creasing to indicate how deep in thought she is. The fact the Sharpedo were making a meal out of the construct lead to a sense of urgency. If they didn't tear it down or repair it immediately, the structure would be torn apart and destroyed regardless.[break][break]

It was actually a hazard to leave it standing as is.[break][break]

"No sweat, kid! That's what I'm here for. If you ever need anything, you just give me a call, too."[break][break]

She smiles, charmed by his confidence. While he aims to turn the boat around, however, she opts to climb back onto Wadjet. [break][break]

"The ocean makes me seasick, so I'm gonna head back separate. Take care, and don't let the Sharpedo eat you!"[break][break]

With that said, both Charizards take off, flattening supplies on the boat with their powerful wingbeats. Stormy would be heading back to the mainland to inform their job-giver of the situation.[break][break]
